Triops granarius
Triops granarius: a widely distributed crustacean
The Triops granarius is one of the most common Triops species throughout the world. It is found on three continents: Europe, Africa and Asia, where it has adapted to a wide diversity of environments. It lives in temporary bodies of water, such as seasonal ponds and rice fields, particularly in Asia, where it thrives in these humid environments.
Triops granarius tolerates temperatures ranging from 22°C to 28°C, but it thrives ideally in water between 22°C and 24°C.
The Triops granarius is one of the largest existing Triops. On average, it reaches 8 cm, but can exceptionally measure up to 10 cm, depending on the conditions of its habitat. Its rapid development and ability to adapt make it a fascinating species to observe.
