Formulated to meet the physiological needs of Triops, these pellets offer excellent bioavailability. Their composition, rich in proteins and essential nutrients, promotes the rapid growth and vitality of Triops.

Thanks to their controlled particle size (1 to 2 mm), these pellets can be ingested directly without grinding, avoiding the risk of blockage or food waste. This size is particularly suitable from the second week of life, when Triops begin to consume solid food independently.

These pellets therefore constitute an ideal dietary support in a breeding protocol, both in educational settings and for enthusiasts seeking a good nutritional balance.

When your Triops are about two weeks old, they are ready for a more substantial diet. Protein-rich pellets are ideal: their easily crumbly texture makes them easy for young Triops to consume. This nutritional supplement promotes healthy growth and supports their development as soon as they can ingest solid particles.

At what age should you give cichlid pellets to Triops?

Specific Triops pellets, measuring between 1 and 2 mm, are too large for hatching Triops larvae (nauplii), as they have microscopic mouths and initially feed on microorganisms (algae, bacteria, infusoria) or fine powders like spirulina. These pellets become suitable from the juvenile stage, approximately 10 to 14 days after hatching, when the Triops reach a size of 5 to 10 mm. At this stage, their mouths are sufficiently developed to ingest particles of this size, and their digestive system can process richer and more solid foods. For adult Triops (from 2 to 3 weeks old), these pellets are an ideal staple food, given 1 to 2 times a day in small quantities.

Benefits of Specific Pellets for Triops

The pellets we offer for your Triops offer several benefits, particularly thanks to their balanced composition and specific formulation:

  1. Complete and Balanced Feed: These pellets are designed as a complete feed, containing an optimal blend of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. This composition meets the high energy needs of Triops, which have a fast metabolism.
  2. Rich in Vitamins: The high vitamin content promotes the overall health of Triops. These vitamins strengthen their immune system, support their rapid growth, and improve the quality of their shell and tissues.
  3. Growth and Coloration Support: The pellets contain natural pigments (such as carotenoids) that can improve the coloration of Triops, giving them more vibrant hues (brown, green, or beige depending on the species). High-quality protein (from fish or shrimp meal) promotes muscle development and healthy molting, essential for their growth.
  4. Ease of digestion: Triops-specific pellets are formulated to be easily digestible, which is crucial for juvenile and adult Triops. Their medium size (between 1 and 2 mm) allows for easy ingestion without the need for grinding, unlike some coarser foods.
  5. Water clarity: Unlike some foods that disintegrate quickly, these pellets are designed not to cloud the water, reducing organic pollution in the tank. This is particularly important for maintaining stable water quality, which is essential for the survival of Triops, which are sensitive to waste buildup.

How to administer Triops pellets?

  • Quantity: Feed a small amount (1 to 3 pellets per Triop, depending on their size) 1 to 2 times daily. Remove any uneaten food after a few hours to prevent water spoilage.
  • Preparation: For juvenile Triops, it may be helpful to lightly crush the pellets into a finer powder initially to facilitate ingestion. For adults, the pellets can be fed whole.
  • Food Supplement: Although the pellets are complete, it is recommended to vary the diet with other sources such as poached vegetables (carrots, zucchini), frozen bloodworms, or brine shrimp to enrich their diet and stimulate their feeding behavior.

Precautions:

  • Monitor Pellet Size: Ensure the pellet size (between 1 and 2 mm) is suitable for your Triops. If juveniles seem to have difficulty consuming them, switch to smaller pellets or continue with spirulina until they grow.
  • Avoid overfeeding: Triops are opportunistic and may eat more than necessary. Thanks to better digestion, their droppings are smaller, which limits water pollution and slows algae growth. The result: cleaner, more stable water.
  • Check the composition: Choose high-quality pellets, without artificial additives or excess grains, to ensure optimal nutrition. This is the case with our specific pellets for Triops.
